I believe this is the key to Medford’s future. Developers coming to Medford with projects need to work with city officials to adhere to our long term vision, articulated in the new Master Plan. Local job creation and sufficient linkage fees are just a few of the many tools the city can employ We also need to find creative ways to link any development proposals in Medford to automatically include mandatory green space and open space as part of their design plans. . In my next term, I’ll work with the administration to continue our push for this type of commercial development, and will also strongly advocate for Medford to become more of a player and capitalize on the burgeoning life-science and bio-tech industries where major developments are thriving in neighboring Boston and Cambridge.
