Medford has had a long history of astute fiscal management and sound municipal accounting principles. The Council has budgetary approval authority, and working with the Mayor, we’ve kept the residential property tax rate at $10.56 per thousand, one of the lowest rates in metro-Boston. I worked hard to spur commercial development in Medford, to keep this low residential rate in place. As a Council, we’ve worked to responsibly regulate and tax the short term rental industry, an exploding sector of the new innovation economy.
